I love a good souvenir. Like, *really* love a good souvenir. So when we got married in New Orleans, I figured there was a pretty good chance our guests would be tempted to spend their entire trip buying cute little things they absolutely did not need. (Ask me how I know.) Instead, we decided to beat them to it. šŸ˜‰

We put together welcome boxes filled with a few things I figured our guests might otherwise buy while they were in New Orleans like koozies, cups, beads, hydration packets, snacks, a little artwork (a watercolor of our reception dinner restaurant,) and a few other fun things, so they could save their souvenir budget for the important stuff: food, drinks, live music, and questionable decisions on Bourbon Street.

Basically, it was a ā€œWelcome to New Orleans! Here are some things you were probably going to buy anyway. Now go spend your money on something more fun,ā€ kind of welcome bag and I stand by it.

When Savannah + Jarrett were planning their April wedding, we knew we wanted their paper details to feel just as fun, colorful, and full of personality as they are. So naturally, their bar menu got a little whimsical. A lot whimsical, actually.Digitized watercolor florals, a giant bow, a few cocktails, and enough color to make a neutral wedding planner break out in hives (thank God I’m not one 🤣)

This was just the original mockup, but now that I have their full wedding gallery, I can confirm: this was only the beginning. Their entire wedding day was every bit as colorful and joyful as this little bar sign promised it would be.

I cannot WAIT to share the rest of Savannah + Jarrett’s wedding.

There’s a new color in town, and she’s bringing dessert. Meet Bitter Chocolate, our newest envelope color! It’s rich, moody, and just the right amount of indulgent.

She looks equally good dressed up for a formal wedding invitation or keeping things cozy for your Christmas cards. Basically, she’s the little black dress of envelopes…only chocolate.

It was great to hear from one of my past brides, Autumn, when she reached out to me to do her niece’s bridal shower invitations. A few weeks ago I posted photos from Autumn’s own rehearsal dinner invites and details.

Their vision was so cute and I loved bringing it to life!

Blooper time! We shot all of our details a week before the wedding so that no time had to be devoted to it on the actual wedding day (Kristen totally spoiled me!) We made a girls afternoon of it and my besties Brittany and Giorgia came to hang out.

Doing anything outside comes with obstacles, and trying to photograph paper placed just perfectly does not pair well with wind. Giorgia and I were protecting the placement as much as we could with our bodies and a storage bin lid while Kristen stayed on the step stool to shoot from above.

Teamwork makes the dream work.

Guests attending a destination wedding shouldn’t have to scout out everything the City offers. In the case of New Orleans there are so many options no matter what they’re interested in.

I created a four piece grommeted deck in place of a wedding website or details card. The first page was a self-guided Poboy Tour to three of Nola’s top shops. Page two was an optional itinerary which included our welcome to town cocktail hour and ch*****ne sabering, followed by dinner plans, and our after party - mechanical bull riding on Bourbon Street. The third page featured the wedding day itinerary and included the shuttle information and reception details (aka a ghost tour.) We got married on Easter weekend and there are THREE fabulous parades to enjoy so the last page included that like up and what intersection we would be at for each one.

Our wedding weekend was everything we could dream of and this was how we communicated that to our loved ones.

I did a few things differently for our invitation suite than most. First, our ceremony time was approximate (not exact) so I used ā€œishā€ after 5:00. Yes, my wedding invitation said it started at 5:00ish - zoom in 🤣 Having 32 guests meant we were able to fit everyone on one trolley to bring them from the hotel to Audubon Park, so everyone had a hard meet time of 4:30, and a plan to start once everyone was there. I think we started at 4:55ish and it was perfect.

Second, I cursed on our invite too! ā€˜Reception to follow’ or ā€˜join us for cocktail hour’ is used so often, and I wanted to offer guests as many experiences as possible without ruining any surprises. ā€˜damn good time to follow’ was *the* perfect wording for us. Not everyone, but for us.

(Side note: if you promise guests a good time you have to follow through on it!)

Two and a half years married and I’m finally getting around to truly showing you my wedding stationery. Better late than never, right?

We’re starting with the appetizer: my save the dates. And if you know me, you already know I was never going to choose a neutral color palette and call it a day. I wanted cheerful, colorful, very New Orleans — yellows, pinks, peaches and corals, with plenty of green woven throughout. White has never been my first choice for anything and it probably never will.

The save the date itself was a mix of letterpress and digital printing, with a peach background, coral letterpress text and two handwritten fonts that gave it just the right amount of personality. The matching coral envelopes were addressed diagonally to echo the typography, then lined with a hand-drawn New Orleans skyline and the words ā€œMeet Us in New Orleans.ā€

And because apparently a regular wax seal wasn’t enough, I took one of my favorite little pieces of New Orleans: the Crescent City logo found on the city’s Water Works manhole covers, and customized it with our names and wedding date, and turned it into a spring green wax seal.
