Sad few days. We lost a Minnesota rollerblading legend. Money Mike had a medical emergency during the Duluth Rollerblade Marathon and unfortunately did not make it. He was beacon of light in the rollerblading community. He always had a huge smile on his face, and a positive outlook on life.
In my late teen years into my early 20's I competed against Mike, and he also helped organize and run some events I put together. He was always the first person to offer a helping hand, and he was a big supporter of my brands and endeavors. He was an incredible photographer with a keen cinematic eye for detail and loved to showcase the outdoors.
Since my departure from rollerblading back in 2015, I didn't get the chance to hang out with Mike that much, but I was fortunate this past July to put on the blades at the Bladerade Contest in Minnetonka at the Back Channel Brewery and got to chat with him about being a new father and catch up on typical small talk and share a smoke together like old times. I am glad that I was able to have those last few moments with Mike. I am sad they were the last.
He will forever be remembered in the rollerblading culture and community. I keep Erin and his new born baby in my prayers and thoughts.
If you can please support and help Erin and Michael's new born daughter that would be tremendous. We all know how difficult this must be for her and the family. Please consider a donation - anything helps!
ROLL ON MONEY MIKE. MN LEGEND.
