Here is the finished piece for my Observational Drawing class! Our prompt was juxtaposition and utilizing the mark making techniques we learned during the week.
I love astrology so the moons came to mind first and then I had to come up with another object that was totally different but could still tell a cohesive story, so I added strawberries. This is a play on the Strawberry Moon that peaks during the first full moon following the summer solstice.

Comment if you want a video of any of the techniques I used!

This took a lot longer than I thought it would, but I'm happy with how it came out. It's 1am and I'm exhausted, so I will post a better picture of the final piece tomorrow.

Just got in my very first easel! I went with .art 's H style easel. After I mess around with it I will do a full review, but so far I love it!

For some reason it wasn't letting me order directly through MEEDAN's website and ship to my home address, but I was able to order through TikTok using the same address.

It's week two of my Observational Drawing course at RMCAD and we had an exercise practicing different mark making techniques and figure/ground.
Overall I am pretty happy with how everything turned out and I learned a lot!

Where My Creative Journey Began: Macrame

At the end of 2021, my sister and I tried learning how to do macrame while we both just finished having COVID. We both had crazy brain fog and could not comprehend the knots at all. We were so overwhelmed by it, we didn't pick it back up for almost another year.

We ended up getting really into and started a small business where we mainly sold our pieces through vendor shows in Southeast Kansas. We also did a few workshops where we taught others how to make keychains and ornaments. These are some of the macrame pieces that I made during the almost 3 year period we had the business.

I really liked doing macrame, but with Amazon, Hobby Lobby, Michael's and all these other big box stores hopping on the trend and outpricing us, it became really hard to make sales. Macrame is similar to crochet in the sense that it can only be hand tied and cannot be replicated by a machine. So, these companies are paying people probably horrible wages to make these pieces, and they also use very low quality materials.

With all of these things happening, our love for making macrame on a business scale faded, and fast. We ended up closing our small business together, but we still make pieces for ourselves and sometimes others here and there.

Follow along to see where my creative journey went after!

What do y'all think of it?

Handmade with chunky, 100% cotton braided cord from Bobbiny, and mounted on a dark walnut stained wooden dowel It took me roughly 8 to 10 hours of braiding to complete this piece.
