How do we use our art to dream? In our dreams how free is free? How connected is community?

I think the most insidious way that internalized oppression works is that it stunts our willingness to dream big.

People will sometimes challenge "how could that ever be," but the point is that is should so we need to figure it out. The challenge is not the answer. The challenge is a call to dream.

To me, dreams intimately linked to action. They require one another.

The dyer of this yarn has not yet posted in support of safety, freedom, and sovereignty for Palestine so I will not tag them.

Please join us on Saturday in solidarity and action with the current Global Strike called for by Bisan. This is also a grounded and connected way to launch Black History Month.

The analysis and space that helps us acknowledge our connectiveness to Palestine is the same that helps us frame what is happening in Congo, Sudan, prisons, disenfranchised communities worldwide.

We will check-in, listen to the podcast together, and share a pledge. Next Saturday, we can reflect. Reflection space is for anti-oppressive folx who honor Blackness and Queerness as light.

Please settle in with whatever supports your engagement- knitting, drawing, note-taking, etc. The chat will be open.

You can watch the original event on the Black Women Radicals' website and read an abundance of grounding materials there.

Please check out 's Black Feminist Landscapes Reading Salon's. She helps a space for this discussion a few weeks ago and has another planned in February.

We call for more than a ceasefire, we call for liberation. Everywhere for everyone.

We were interviewed by The New York Times about the benefits of knitting during meetings. Do you knit during meetings to help your focus?

An official in Wales was called out for knitting in a virtual meeting, setting off a debate over etiquette. Experts say the fine-motor movement activates the parts of the brain used for focus.

I love when I can sit and get lost in a project. When I can be obsessed with the process and finishing. Those times when nothing else matters.

I have not had those times for years now. So many other things matter and I rarely have the time (or energy) to get lost in it. I have adapted to getting moments in here and there. For those times, I am grateful.

I am finding joy in the simple knits.

What adaptations have you seen in your making recently?
