Had an Audi in the shop yesterday.
Instead of replacing complete control arms, we pressed in new bushings and saved the customer some money while still making the repair the right way. Not every job needs a pile of new parts if the existing components are still serviceable.
While inspecting the suspension, we also found a crack on the upper steering knuckle. That's not something to take chances with, so it was replaced before it had a chance to become a much bigger problem.
A good inspection and proper repairs can save money where it makes sense, and catch safety issues before they leave you stranded. 🔧🚗

Fun stuff. I have 3 vehicles in a row with a parasitic draw. Sometimes these are something simple like a stereo or an amplifier. sometimes its multiple issues like this one. Amplifier, hands free microphone, hvac unit and the starter was causing a draw totalling 2300mA after sitting overnight.

My repair procedure? A punch, a hammer, and a little bit of luck in the sweet spot

Was a tight fit on a 2 door coup, but the door is opened, we have a new door actuator, customer is happy. Moving on.

Pre-gapped spark plugs... I dont believe so...

How many techs do you think still take the time to check and set every spark plug gap? It's a little tedious, and yea, it takes an extra 10 minutes, but the little things matter when you're after a smooth-running engine.

A properly gapped plug helps ensure the engine performs the way it was designed to. Taking the time to do the small things right is what separates a repair from a quality repair.

Friendly reminder: The parts cannon isn't a diagnostic tool.

Get it diagnosed first. It'll probably cost less than the pile of parts you're about to throw at it.

Besides, some of those original factory parts have already proven they'll last 20+ years. The new part in the box hasn't proven anything yet.
