School SLPs, meet your new favorite way to track what happens after the minus sign. ⤵️
Numbers don’t lie, but they CAN leave out some VERY useful context.
If you’re seeing the same percentage session after session but you know SOMETHING is starting to click with your student, start tracking what happens when they answer incorrectly AND when you provide additional support.
That’s where elicited accuracy becomes your new data bestie! 📈
📉 INDEPENDENT ACCURACY shows how often the student responds correctly under the conditions written in the goal.
📈 ELICITED ACCURACY includes those correct responses plus incorrect responses the student successfully repairs after one additional cue.
For example, a student answers all five inferencing trials incorrectly. Their independent accuracy is 0%.
But if they give four correct responses after you provide a model, their elicited accuracy is 80%.
That sticky note with five minus signs? It doesn’t tell you what your student can do with one additional cue. 🤦♀️
SLP Toolkit makes elicited accuracy ridiculously easy to track.
When a student answers incorrectly, provide one additional cue and record the cue if they successfully repair their response. If they don’t repair it or need more than one cue, leave the elicited box blank.
Wondering why SLP grad school forgot to teach us about elicited accuracy? Us too! 😂
Save this for the next time a goal sits at 0% and you’re tempted to rewrite it.
