Hi, I’m Mia! I gained some followers so I want to say hi beautiful people! I’m a Memphis-based illustrator and designer, creating artwork rooted in identity, joy, storytelling, and cultural memory. My work has lived across children’s books, public art, branding, and collaborations with incredible partners like Google, Crocs, Skittles, PBS, and The New York Times — but at the heart of it all, I’m simply someone who loves building experiences that help people feel seen.

Lately, I’ve been dreaming beyond the page. I want to explore set design, puppetry, museum interactive design, toys, fashion, home decor, animation, and immersive spaces that invite people to play, learn, heal, and reconnect with one another. I’m inspired by community, color, Black and q***r histories, childhood wonder, Memphis culture, and the belief that art can open doors to conversations we deeply need.

Whether I’m designing a character, a mural, a toy concept, or a future exhibition space, I want my work to feel like an offering — warm, imaginative, expressive, and alive. Thank you for being here and growing with me. 🌞✨

Thank you so much for coming to the Dixon Gallery and Gardens FIBER exhibition opening last night! The exhibition will be up until January. My sculpture piece, The Listener, will be on display.

The Listener is a clay sculpture with original imported Nigerian fabric and (Americanized) beading. The subject is a soft feminine individual engulfed in soft rich Nigerian adire fabric. (Adire is an African tie-dye method.)

While I typically play with illustration and digital medium, I decided to use a traditional medium and material that related to my life experience from a cultural and religious perspective. This piece was an imperfect yet beautiful self exploration and discovery. In 2023, my sister discovered 64% of our roots are related to the Nigerian/Congo area. Since then, I’ve been studying art history and family history to correlate the layers of living as a q***r Southern African-American. I was able to share my new knowledge and practices in a recent fabric workshop.

If you are wanting to learn more about my new practice and workshops, please like and follow my upcoming posts!
