Recovering Lost Files from a 23-Year-Old Hard Drive! 💾🔍

Tech adventures can take you back in time—like firing up an early 2000s operating system to retrieve lost files! This week, I worked on recovering data from two PCs, one built in 2002 and the other from 2007 that still hold valuable files. While the hard drives were intact, one of them had a failed power supply.

While a virtual machine may not have been necessary, creating backups of both systems and being able to see Windows Me brought back some memories.

Vintage hardware can still hold valuable files. If you have an aging hard drive with lost data, Guilford Tech Solutions is here to help!

🏠 Keeping Those Connections Strong 🌐

When a home relies on so many wireless devices, reliable internet is crucial—and sometimes the setup needs creative solutions to make that happen. Recently, I worked on a media closet with poor ventilation that was causing Wi-Fi disruptions. By addressing the heat issue with a compact USB fan, reorganizing the equipment for better airflow, and securing the modem in place, we’ve made a big improvement.

It's fixes like this that make my day and while it’s not the prettiest fix, functionality is what matters most—and the Wi-Fi has been running smoothly since! I’ll be following up to ensure dust doesn’t build up in the modem or fan, so this solution keeps performing well as the Texas summer heat ramps up.

If your Wi-Fi is struggling to keep its cool and the chaos is getting out of hand, I can help bring some order back to your setup. Let’s get those connections running smoothly again!

If your computer feels slow, it might be your browser using too many resources. Try closing extra tabs, clearing your cache, and updating extensions.

For older computers, consider using less intensive browsers such as

🔹 Firefox: Known for its performance on older computers.

Small tweaks can make a big difference but if you need help, Guilford Tech Solutions has you covered. Get expert support to keep your computer running smoothly!

🔒 Keep Your Home Safe This Holiday Season! 🔒

Did you know some older Wi-Fi cameras might not work with newer modems due to frequency issues? Think of it like AM and FM radio. The 2.4 GHz frequency is like AM radio, and the 5 GHz frequency is like FM radio. Your modem switches automatically between the two, but many older cameras can only understand the 2.4 GHz "AM" side.

With a few network tweaks, we can get your cameras back in action. Reach out to Guilford Tech Solutions for help and we can get you setup in no time!
