One of the biggest lessons from building my mobile game wasn't about AI.

It was about the questions I was asking.

At first, AI helped me build features at a pace that honestly surprised me. It was easy to fall into a rhythm of "Here's the bug. Here's the fix."

Then I hit a problem that refused to stay fixed.

The more I patched it, the more I realized I wasn't solving the underlying issue—I was treating the symptoms.

Somewhere during that process, I stopped asking AI to generate another fix and started asking a very different question:

"I don't want another patch. I want to understand why we keep needing patches."

That simple shift changed everything.

The conversation stopped being about code and became about architecture, design, and engineering judgment. I wasn't looking for someone—or something—to write code for me anymore. I was looking for a partner to help me investigate the system.

That's what Part 2 of my BreakCore series is about.

Not the tools.

Not the bugs.

But the moment I realized that AI is most valuable when it helps you ask better questions, not just produce faster answers.

I'd love to hear from other engineers experimenting with AI-assisted development.

Have you found a point where your conversations with AI changed from "fix this" to "help me understand this"?

The first bug wasn't the problem. It was the clue. Part 2 of my BreakCore journey explores what happened when I stopped asking AI for another patch and started asking a better question. That shift changed not only the architecture of my game, but the way I think about AI-assisted software developmen...

I started building a mobile game because it sounded like fun.

Then I accidentally turned it into an experiment on AI-assisted software development.

What began as "Let's see what Replit can do" eventually became a journey through React Native, Android builds, Git, CI/CD, cloud development, and more than a few moments where I questioned my life choices.

The good news? The game is real.

The better news? I learned a ton along the way.

The first article in my new three-part series is live. It's an honest look at what Replit did really well, why I chose it over some of the newer AI app builders, and why getting from idea to working software is only the beginning.

If you've been curious about AI coding tools but skeptical of the hype, this series is for you.

Hi friends — quick life update!

For the past few months I've been quietly building something that blends my two worlds:
my engineering leadership career and my creative side that keeps me grounded.

It’s called Mother of All Geeks — a space where I’m sharing the tools, prompts, and practical approaches that have helped me stay clear-headed, reduce burnout, and navigate the chaos of modern tech life with a little more confidence (and a little geekiness, of course).

If you’re a tech leader, a creative professional, or just someone trying to simplify life and lead with more clarity, I think you’ll like what’s coming.

I also put together a free AI Leadership Toolkit to help people get started → You can get it on
motherofallgeeks.com

Thanks for always supporting my random mix of tech, creativity, and leaning.
New chapter… let’s see where it goes. 💙

The scaffolding looks promising. Whether it fits your house is the real question. Let’s set expectations up front: I have not shipped a production system with .NET Aspire. This post is my synthesis of public documentation, OSS discussions, and “in-the-trenches” developer accounts. My goal is t...

Code that “just works” is cute... until it breaks under pressure.

If you’ve ever shipped a feature fast only to spend the next quarter patching it — you already know: “good enough” code is a time bomb.
And the real cost? It's not just tech debt — it's burned out teams, slowed velocity, and missed opportunities.

In my latest post, I’m making the business case for quality!
How engineering leaders can enforce quality without killing momentum

If you lead a team, touch legacy systems, or ship anything on a deadline… read this before you ship your next “good enough” fix.

Code that runs is good, but code that lasts is priceless. Let’s build the latter. Here’s a familiar story: business says now, engineering rushes out a fix or feature, it works… until it doesn’t. Six months later, that “quick win” has aged like milk. Bugs pile up, performance dips, and so...
