Google has started giving people AI assistants that ring businesses for them. The assistant will call a shop to check if something's in stock, book an appointment, or ask about a price.

For now, this is mostly a consumer thing, and it's early. But if a lot of your business comes in over the phone, it's worth knowing about.

Tell your team some callers will be AI, not people. And whatever they say on a call can be recorded, so it pays to be accurate about prices, opening hours, and what you've got available.

If you want your team to work fast, don't skimp on their computers or your internet.

Everything moves quicker than it used to. Customers want fast replies, and the jobs often go to whoever gets back to them first. Your team can't be quick if their tools are slow.

A laptop that takes an age to load, internet that keeps dropping, cheap software that hangs- all of it means your people spend half the day waiting around and working out ways past the problem. It's frustrating, and good staff hate not being able to get on with the job because of the gear they've been given.

You need to find the recording, remember who agreed to what, track action items, and figure out where an important decision was made. Microsoft is putting more of that information into a dedicated Teams recap experience so users can find meeting history in one place.

One of the biggest questions with AI is still the same: can you trust the answer?

Microsoft is improving how Copilot can research information by using multiple AI processes to compare sources and look for gaps before returning a response. The goal is to give users better-supported answers without forcing them to open a pile of browser tabs.

AI in meetings is starting to do more than take notes.

Microsoft is testing Teams features that can summarize earlier discussion, track action items, surface information during a meeting, and organize what happens afterward. That could save a lot of time, especially for teams that live in meetings all day.

The tradeoff is that an AI assistant has to process the meeting to be useful. Businesses should decide where that makes sense and where it doesn't, especially for HR, legal, financial, or other sensitive conversations.
