While accepting the Ultimate Icon Award at the 2025 BET Awards, Jamie reflected on surviving a major health scare, the power of second chances, and the people who held him down through it all. He got emotional while thanking his family, especially his daughters, and spoke directly to Black audiences, saying:⁠
