This was at a Neighborhood Council meeting way back when I was doing NC websites. It was my first, unpleasant eye-opener to how detached and fearful NC representatives had become of and to the needs of those they represented.

Among the many rules when attending them, we, the people -

- could not look them in the eye.
- could not address them directly (i.e., by name).
- were not provided time to hear their replies to our 2-minute, shotgunned dissertation of our concerns for our neighborhoods.

You could tell they were not really listening to what we, the people had to say. It was, "Okay, your two minutes starts...NOW!", and as soon as you went over even five seconds, they shut you down.

Once I left that world of doing neighborhood council websites, it was a relief to not support such a frustrating system. I realized how lucky I was. Why? Because -

- I look my customers in the eye when they express their needs and concerns.
- I address them with respect and LISTEN TO THEM.
- we usually take at least TWO HOURS initially to flesh out a balanced plan of their wants, my suggestions and their budget.

I am not a gutless coward hiding behind bureaucratic rules designed to protect me from angry clients who are frustrated because we didn't talk things out in the first place. NEVER GONNA HAPPEN.

NOT ON MY WATCH.

NOT AS LONG AS I'M ABOVE GROUND.

GoDaddy's Microsoft 365 went down today at 11:00 am for one of my customers who called me in a panic. We had just done a joint conference call w/GoDaddy two days ago to reconfigure their DNS settings to comply with Google's updates to their system a couple of months ago. Bad timing for us, it turns out, but responding quickly, giving my client workarounds and feeding them status information as I worked on the problem calmed them down as much as they could be calmed.

So, to anyone out there having trouble w/your 365 Office Suite, be aware the problem looks like it's still going on. Here's a couple of links to help you all keep abreast of the situation;

If you're a GoDaddy customer, check https://status.godaddy.com/ and https://status.godaddy.com/incidents/rbtgb043m589 . They report the problem as "Microsoft Office 365 Email Degraded Accessibility" which in plain simple English means it's an intermittent problem that's getting worse and not everyone is experiencing a problem right now.

If it's affecting you and you want to report it or check the status, go to https://downdetector.com/status/go-daddy/ .

ADA Compliance - now mandatory for websites...wait, what??? Compliance with ADA for brick-and-mortar establishments has been quite the issue in the past. Ever since the '90s (yes, 1990s!) pressure has been put on them to come into compliance with laws that help the disabled navigate our world.

But now the tide has shifted to include ONLINE websites to do the same.

You can be actually be SUED if your website isn't ADA compliant - and it doesn't matter if you are an online retailer, a medical professional with a website or a corporation or a small business.

It's a scary thought, especially if you have never even heard of ADA compliance and the Federal and State laws that govern its implementation. Where do you start? How do you protect yourself and your business from being drug into court and paying THOUSANDS of dollars in attorney's fees, settlements and penalties?

Ugh! Glad we NEVER had Ring or Alexa. Even though they've supposedly cleared up all the privacy issues, we won't be getting them now or in the near future. We only have Alexa on our smart t.v. 'cause you can't get rid of it when you purchase the stupid Amazon Firestick 🤦‍♀️

It's what we all feared, but hoped wouldn't be the case.
