A little town hall about the goings of Ohma.
All our condenser and ribbon mics are going up by $100 on June 1st because a few major product and production updates are landing at the same time.
THE MIC PRICE UPDATE
Our Ready to Ship mics (black/stainless and teal/apricot) are going from $699 to $799.
Custom mics made in the Mic Builder are going from the base price of $799 to $899.
Turn up and lock in current pricing before the increase goes into effect.
THE TRANSFORMER SITUATION
For the last three years, our condensers have used new old stock Cinemag transformers from a large auction lot we purchased years ago. We have now worked through that batch, which is both expected and WILD, because at one point it genuinely felt like we had acquired a lifetime supply. Big pat on our backs to be able to celebrate our third birthday with this milestone 😁
We are transitioning to the new version of the same type of Cinemag transformer, and we worked with David at Cinemag to make sure everything stayed exactly to spec. They sound identical!
On the ribbon side, European tariffs and shipping costs have increased the cost of the Lehle ribbon transformers we use. We wanted to hold off on raising ribbon prices until we could time it with the condenser update, so instead of doing multiple price changes at different times and making everyone watch more drawn out videos by me.
OUR PAD SWITCH ERA
Starting June 1st, all Ohma condensers will ship with a built-in pad switch. The -16.5 dB in-line pad sits between the capsule and the electronics, which helps the mic handle loud sources up close before the signal reaches the rest of the circuit.
NEW PARTS, NEW PRICES
Our pop filters are also finally moving into production. We have the parts, beta testing is complete, and the product page is coming soon, and by that I mean June 1st. These have been in development for a long time because we wanted them to properly fit into the Ohma system rather than just exist as a random accessory we rushed into the world.
