It was great to see everyone tonight at our Cyberdeck September meetup! We sold all of our Cardputer ADVs and showed everyone how to load the M5Launcher firmware. We met a group of CSULB computers science students, got an update on Ed’s badge for OC Maker Fare (which he helped to debug with his Cardputer he got a few days ago), we got a demo of Barzem’s voice interactive senior assistant device, and Mitov’s software demo for ESP32 S3.

Voices on the Line by N.Sputnik will be an Angels Gate Cultural Center on April 26 as part of Open Studios Day Spring 2026.
Voices on the Line is a collection of vintage analog telephones sit together, on a table in a room, or on a blanket in a park. Wires connect them to each other, but there’s no phone company, no line running to the wall. Pick up a receiver and there’s a dial tone anyway. A little black book sits beside each phone with numbers listed. Extensions leading to recorded speeches, songs about phone calls, stories about the way phone systems used to work, voices from decades past. Some extensions are unlisted. Some you find by accident. Dial 411 and see where it takes you. Or figure out how to call the other phones (there’s a clue in the little black book) and find yourself connected to a stranger who is also interacting with the piece.
