oh hey it’s been a minute! it’s been hard to know what to post on here when the world is on fire. i was lucky enough to escape the chaos for a bit and visit the netherlands with my family and it was just what we needed. there is so much beauty, so much history, such a tangible sense of community there. (and my kids favorite part: so much cheese lol)

a few highlights:

1. the view from our airbnb in den haag
2. the world’s cutest cat that we nicknamed “stubby” because he only had 1/2 of his tail
3. showing my girls the mc escher exhibit. the intricacy of his prints was insane!
4. beautiful details on the historical homes
5. the windmills in leiden - we got to go all the way up to the top — 7 floors!
6. the incredible street markets in haarlem
7. the cutest canal houses in delft
8. “the girl with the pearl earring” by vermeer at the mauritshuis museum, which was gorgeous, but the most impactful part of that visit was learning about the museum’s history. during world war ii the dutch took all of the museum’s paintings out of their frames and hid them in a secret location so they couldn’t be stolen or damaged during the war. how beautiful is the idea of treasuring your country’s art and history so much that you take the time and effort to protect it that way?

11. soooo many incredible antiques (don’t worry i stuffed as many as i could fit in my suitcase for the shop!)

13. fresh fish at the street market in leiden
14. my girls at the mc escher museum
15. more gorgeous antiques
16. dunes in haarlem — reminded me of home
17. flowers at our favorite coffee shop in amsterdam
18. eating stroopwaffles with my ry
19. the canals in delft
20. the anne frank house in amsterdam, which was heartbreaking to witness but also so important to show our girls. it was beautiful to learn about the community that tried so hard to protect her, and anne’s determination to keep her family’s story alive through it all.

now i’m back home in my art studio, reminding myself that beauty is still out there and that art is important — even when (or maybe especially when) the world is on fire.

If you haven’t checked your email yet, I have some BIG BIG NEWS to share! But first, how is it almost Christmas?!( I guess time flies when you’re keeping a big ol’ secret.) Just in the nick of time, I am restocking the online shop with a handful of original paintings and lots of vintage holiday goodies tomorrow 12/16 at noon est!!

Secondly, I have some VERY exciting news that I have been dying to share with you all. You may have noticed a few hints about a new chapter for my brick & mortar shop, The Warren, and I’m so thrilled to finally share that the new chapter is…

I’M OPENING A NEW STORE!

I will be leaving The Warren at the end of December and will start the process of setting up my new retail space at The Bluebird in Leland, with the goal of opening the shop this spring. I can’t wait to begin transforming this space and making it my own. If you’d like to follow along for the ride, I’ll be posting lots of updates here.

I can’t thank you enough for making the last four years at The Warren so magical, and I can hardly wait to see what the future has in store. Here’s to new chapters, leaps of faith, and all the good things ahead 🥂
