Answering social media questionnaires could help ID thieves: Police

Cyber Saturday Tip: Please think before you answer any of the "Facebook" or other social site quizzes. Essentially you are providing some of your personal information, as well as, potentially passwords and other information that can be used to compromise your identity or other disastrous and unintended consequences. Notice how the majority of these quizzes tell you that you are exceptional when in fact most of them are not that hard. They are just using those headlines pushed out on your feed to encourage your friends to take the same quizzes and provide their information as well. Remember data collection and aggregation is a huge business. Do not give your information away for free to others who can use it as they see fit to make money or compromise your identity. Happy Holidays!

You'll want to think twice the next time you're about to enter your best friend's first name in one of those Facebook quizzes. Law enforcement officials are warning social media users that those seemingly harmless questionnaires on Facebook and other social media platforms could be furnishing...

Friday Cyber Security Tip - Your Information Security:

Do you notice how many of your friends fill out various "harmless" surveys about themselves and then send them to you encouraging you to do the same on Facebook and other social media platforms? You may want to think twice. These surveys simply allow people or organizations (sometimes anonymous or unknown) that created them to gather more information about you, such as your pets names, habits, things you do, and information that more specifically identifies you that you would not normally disclose in a regular conversation with someone you know. This information can be used to help compromise your identity and other non innocuous uses such as guessing your passwords because of the information provided. Think twice before filling information on a social network as it may give others the "keys to your kingdom." At least, make them work for it...

Why you should say 'goodbye' to Hello Barbie

Hello Barbie is not only able to speak to your child, but is also programmed to listen and respond! Sounds like a dream toy, right?

Wrong! This is an item that needs to stay OFF of your child's gift wish list! Weak security measures, sharing of information with third parties, the possibility of hacking and listening in on your child and voice recognition make this a toy that we cannot possibly even dream of endorsing. Say, "goodbye," to Hello Barbie... If you know what's good for your child.
