He has no idea how much I'm going to miss him.
A week ago I got the news any pet owner dreads hearing. "It's time. It's okay to let him go now that he's gotten to this stage. You did the best you could."
These were the words his vet left me with after his most recent appointment. The words that have stuck with me since. My little guy, just shy of 18 years old, is on his way out come Saturday. I know it will be hard to say goodbye, lord knows he's been with me for so long it feels impossible...but seeing where he's currently at, it's the best decision for him.
My boy, if you never had the pleasure of meeting him, has always been a very athletic dog. He's been obsessed with running and would even play football with you if you were game ⚽️ I've never known a dog to figure out how to block as well as he did, but goodness was he a master at it. Not only that, after outplaying anyone who would engage, with a well-timed huff, he would always seem to sass anyone who came in his path.
He's always been an incredibly compassionate and loyal dog, but to think he has been funny to this day is an impressive feat that I don't know if I'll ever see again. I love you so much, Yuki. Thank you for the privilege of being your mum. ❤️🩹
(I know his rainbow bridge appointment is Saturday but I'd be lying if this wasn't cathartic )
