Looks like may be permanently turning in his microphone for a game controller.

The music star recently revealed that he’s making a hefty income of $50,000 – $60,000 hourly from playing video games on livestream, and admitted that the set-up leaves him with no desire to tour overseas.

T-Pain, real name Faheem Rashad Najm, 39, stated during a recent interview:

“When you make $50,000 to $60,000 an hour playing video games in your underwear, it’s hard to justify traveling overseas for work.”

Continuing, the “Bartender” artist gave more insight into the booming gaming industry, sharing that he’s actually one of the lower earners compared to other musicians who stream as they play video games. Mentioning rap star specifically, T-Pain stated:

“I’m on the low tier…There are people making millions a month. I’m making less than Tee Grizzley. When we talk about hourly rates, I know I’m doing less than him.”

One report notes that Tee Grizzley has also previously opened up about his streaming earnings, disclosing that he makes millions a month from his Grand Theft Auto 5 role-playing server, partially through membership fees from the 90,000 users who have joined the server he manages. T-Pain gave an example of the kind of endorsements he’s been getting as well, continuing in the interview:

“All I have to do during the stream is occasionally say, ‘Hey guys, 7-Eleven has pizza now. Don’t you want a pizza from 7-Eleven? Cool, let’s get back to the game for two hours.’ It’s easy money…If you think I’m going to pack clothes, get on a stage for an hour and a half, and sweat it out in a state I’m unfamiliar with instead of staying home and streaming…” Full story on .com
