Cyber criminals are now targeting Microsoft 365 users with fake Storage Capacity Emails (sample below). The goal behind this malicious emails is to trick you into clicking “Clear Cache” and then redirecting you to malicious website to collect your personal data, such as banking and email passwords. Once this data is collected it will be sold on the dark web and used for malicious activities.

You can protect yourself by not just clicking on links in emails you receive. Always exercise caution when clicking on attachments or links in email. Hover over the hyperlink in the email to ensure it is pointing to a valid website. In the sample below the malicious sender attempts to put the recipient at ease by adding “This sender has been verified from safe senders list”. Below are multiple red flags in the email:
• the email is from beyondmenu dot com regarding (not really) your Microsoft account
• Spelling error; No Enough Storage
• Hovering over Clear Cache reveals the URL is different from the sending company. The URL points to doubleclick dot net which redirects to ephesushistory dot com.
