Twenty-one years ago, on one of the most important days of our lives, we experienced something no couple should ever have to go through — we never received our wedding photos. A moment that should have been preserved forever was simply… gone.

That experience stayed with us.

Long before social media, before YouTube, before wedding films were everywhere, Matt was already behind a camera. Growing up skateboarding and snowboarding, he was always the one filming friends, making edits, and documenting every adventure. So when a friend asked if we could film their wedding, we said absolutely. It was old school — shot on tape and burned onto a DVD.

Then another friend saw it.
And another asked.

Without realizing it, something meaningful had started.

What began as helping friends slowly turned into a mission: to make sure other couples never experience the heartbreak we did. Over the last 15+ years, we’ve had the honor of capturing hundreds of love stories, incredible celebrations, and moments families will hold onto forever.

Smoky Mountain Creative is a true family operation. Matt works in commercial construction, Tracy runs Premiere Catering at the University of Tennessee, and when we’re not filming weddings, we’re probably roasting coffee or creating content somewhere behind a camera.

Our oldest daughter has even joined the team, helping at events and second shooting with some incredibly talented East Tennessee photographers.

Being based in East Tennessee means we’re surrounded by some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world — and we never take that for granted. Whether it’s a mountaintop ceremony, a barn reception under the stars, or a packed dance floor that refuses to slow down, we’re there to capture it all.

Because moments pass.
Memories fade.
But a story told well lasts forever.
