Many customers often call or message me and usually one of the first questions I get is about pricing. Most of y’all know I pretty much charge up-front for most basic services like setups, wiring, etc.
HOWEVER, many times, MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, actually, I’ll open up the instrument, and find that 2 or sometimes 3 more things need to be done to it, BEFORE the problem brought to me can be addressed; i.e. a headstock repair turns out to be a truss rod/re-fret/headstock repair. This makes for a lot more work for me, and every time, I do what it takes, and fix the instrument, without charging extra for sometimes HOURS of extra work. I’m happy to do it, and do it right every time, but it can mess with repair schedules.
So, going forward, and this is kind of a no-brainer, I’m gonna have to start using an estimate system. What’ll happen is, you’ll call me up, tell me what you need, I can give you an estimate at that time, and then what I recommend, is check back in with me, or I will call you, if any new problems arise and we can go from there. 9/10 times it will be easy, direct fixes, but I’m starting a two-step check-in process that’s gonna save us both any unnecessary surprises.
THANKS, as always!
LET’S ROCK!
