HOW LONG WILL MY LIHTIUM BATTERY LAST?
Hey, friends,
Many users ask the above question, and try to correlate some claimed cycle ratings to days of use. Lithium cells when new are required to be tested by the cell manufacturer to establish cell cycle rating. Higher priced cells and batteries have higher cycle ratings and expected longer life. The cell cycle rating doesn’t directly give you expected life, but it likely correlates. Lithium has been in use in cruising boats for almost 20 years, so practical data on lithium battery life on a cruising boat can be extracted. Perhaps you have experienced the end of life of a lithium battery or battery bank, or are aware of such a case. Can you share how long your or a friend’s lithium house battery bank lasted in a b oat or RV, and the make/model of the battery? Our engineers will identify the original cell cycle rating for that battery’s cells. We will only use the cell manufacturer’s cell cycle rating and not the battery manufacturer claimed cycle rating. We already have data for several cases, but would like many more. If you have data on multiple battery banks, come back to this link each time to submit data on another case. We will share results here, on general battery life vs. true cycle rating tests. Click below to send along data. And let friends know. Thanks!
