Have a seat. I would like to talk to you about A.I....
OK, so there's been a LOT of talk lately in the news (fear mongering) about A.I. lately. Along with all that talk, there's also a lot of A.I fear and A.I anxiety about where this is headed.
I think some of that fear comes from the movies we've grown up watching: The Terminator, The Matrix, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Colossus: The Forbin Project, Ex Machina, M3GAN, etc, etc, etc.
We've spent decades watching A.I. become self-aware, take control, and try to destroy humanity. Now that A.I. is becoming real, some people seem to think science fiction is becoming reality.
That's why checks and balances, human oversight, security, and an actual "kill switches", or "EMP fail-safes" are important.
A.I. is a powerful tool. We shouldn't blindly trust it, but we also shouldn't fear it simply because Hollywood taught us to. Sci-fi is a great genre, but it isn't a crystal ball.
How are you feeling about the rapid growth of AI? Embrace it, or unplg it? What are your thoughts?
