🐾💻 WHAT DID I DO TODAY? | WBG: CHAOS COORDINATOR EDITION
At this point, I don’t know whether I’m running a business, building a software company, managing a daycare for oversized dogs, or slowly losing my mind. 🤣
Probably all four.
Here’s today’s recap of Things I Somehow Voluntarily Signed Up For:
💻 Continued building Voyant University.
You know, the entire learning platform I decided to build for my actual full-time job.
Today involved learning management systems, coding, databases, test environments, and trying to figure out how to make users interact with actual financial planning software INSIDE the training platform.
Because apparently building a normal training website wasn’t complicated enough.
Did I go to school for software engineering? No.
Do I now speak in terms like Node.js, SQLite, API integrations, and deployment environments like I know what I’m doing?
Unfortunately, yes. 😂
📚 Had another meeting about learning management software.
Which further reinforced my suspicion that I might be building exactly what I need myself.
Nothing quite like sitting through a software demonstration while thinking, “Okay, but I already made that… and mine lets me change the code.” 🤣
💆♀️ Had a meeting with Plush Spa & Salon!
Switched gears from financial planning software and databases to websites, business systems, and all things beauty industry.
Because why specialize in one industry when you can apparently work in ALL OF THEM?
One minute I’m talking about financial planning simulations, and the next I’m discussing salon technology and website improvements.
My brain has approximately 37 departments, and none of them communicate.
🔥 Worked on content for our WBG clients.
Schnelle Heating & Air needed some HVAC love, and Fireplace Creations had a beautiful project to showcase.
So naturally, we went from financial software to furnaces to fireplaces.
It’s called range. 💅
🐾 Checked in with WBG upper management.
George, our Golden Retriever CEO, continues to oversee operations from a horizontal position.
Franklin, our 76-pound, seven-month-old chaos intern, has been busy collecting outdoor debris in his fur and distributing it throughout the house.
George brings leadership.
Frank brings the entire backyard.
Neither brings revenue.
Both expect benefits.
👨💻 And then there’s Andy.
My actual software engineer husband, who probably regrets every time I start a sentence with:
“Okay, so I was thinking…”
Because what follows is never a small request.
It’s usually an entirely new business idea, platform, integration, or something that requires approximately 14 additional hours of coding.
And somehow, he still married me. 🤣
The wildest part of all this?
I genuinely love it.
I love building things, figuring out problems, helping businesses grow, and learning technology I had absolutely no business touching six months ago.
Some days I’m a client specialist.
Some days I’m a website designer.
Some days I’m a developer.
Some days I’m a marketing department.
And every day, I’m apparently a full-time janitor for two dogs.
Moral of the story: You don’t have to know how to do everything to start. You just have to be willing to learn, adapt, and occasionally Google what you broke. 😂
