Artificial intelligence may offer a new way to identify genetic risk factors associated with ALS, even in people without a family history of the disease or known ALS-causing mutations.
In a large international study involving genetic data from more than 47,000 people, researchers found that a new AI model could distinguish people with ALS from unaffected individuals with promising accuracy.
The findings highlight the potential for AI to complement existing genetic testing methods and expand how researchers assess genetic risk for ALS beyond currently known mutations.
