Copper Mountain Technologies VNAs were used in a recently published research paper, “A Wireless Reader for Detecting Frequency Shift of Passive Sensors,” from researchers at Koç University’s Department of Biomedical Sciences and Engineering, Koç University Research Center for Translational Research (KUTTAM), and Department of Mechanical Engineering.

The study presents a miniaturized, flexible wireless reader for passive wearable and implantable sensors, addressing an important challenge in body area sensor networks: reducing reliance on benchtop equipment and enabling physiological data collection beyond controlled laboratory environments.

The proposed reader combines power harvesting with a portable readout interface and demonstrates the detection of small frequency shifts across a 1–8 MHz range in both in vitro and in vivo experiments. This work could help advance more practical, portable approaches to wearable and implantable physiological monitoring.
