Oaken is officially a business school case study.
A new case in the International Food and Agribusiness Management Review looks at the question every ag-tech startup gets from investors:
“The problem is real, but is the market large enough?”
Farmland leasing is a big deal. More than $30 billion in lease payments change hands in the U.S. every year, and roughly 39% of U.S. farmland is rented from landowners who don’t farm it. Even so, many of those leases still live in paper files, spreadsheets, text messages, and memory.
The case lays out three ways Oaken Ag could grow:
1. Go deeper in the U.S.
2. Expand to Canada
3. Manage every kind of ag contract, not just land leases
Which would you pick? Tell us 1, 2, or 3 in the comments.
