Come meet us and others local businesses at the North Alabama Equipment Vendor Market on Saturday from 9-2.

THIS SATURDAY — IT’S GOING TO BE A BIG ONE! 🔥

What started as a vendor event has grown fast, and as of right now we have 24 vendors signed up for this Saturday at North Alabama Equipment!

We’re spending the next few days confirming the vendor attendance, laying out vendor spaces, organizing parking, and getting everything ready for what we hope will be a packed day on Highway 72.

📅 Saturday, September 26
⏰ 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 North Alabama Equipment
6755 Highway 72 W, Huntsville, AL 35806

Come out and shop local vendors, check out everything they have to offer, grab some food, hang out, and make a day of it.

We’ll have a great mix of vendors, and huntsvillepage will be streaming college football on the big screen, so you don’t have to miss the games while you’re here!

We’re also buying lunch for the first 100 customers from Nomads Road Dogs! 🌭

The response from vendors has been incredible, and this event is starting to show us just how much potential there is for a regular North Alabama vendor market / farmers market / swap meet right here in Huntsville.

Now we need everyone’s help making the first one a HUGE success.

🏠 Your Builder Ran the Cable. We Finish the Job.

Your new home may already have Cat6 cable running to bedrooms, offices, living rooms, and other areas — but that doesn’t necessarily mean the connections are terminated and ready to use.

Already have cable in the walls? MT Cabling can finish it.

We can:
🔌 Terminate existing Cat6 runs
🔌 Install keystone jacks & wall plates
🔌 Terminate connections at the media/network panel
🔌 Label and test your connections
🔌 Get your home network ready to go

Don’t pay to have cable run twice. If it’s already there, let us finish it. Give us a call!

📶 Wired vs. Wireless: Which Is Better?

Wireless is convenient—but wired connections still have a major advantage when reliability and performance matter.

🔌 Wired
✅ Faster and more consistent connection
✅ Lower latency — great for gaming, streaming & work
✅ Less interference from walls and other devices
✅ More reliable for security cameras
✅ No batteries to charge
✅ Provides a solid foundation for your Wi-Fi access points

📡 Wireless
✅ Convenient
✅ Easy to add devices
✅ Great for phones, tablets and other mobile devices
❌ Can be affected by distance, walls and interference
❌ Performance can vary depending on location and congestion
❌ Battery-powered devices require charging or replacement

The best network isn’t necessarily 100% wired or 100% wireless.

The best setup uses both.

Hardwire the devices that need speed and reliability, and use Wi-Fi for the devices that need mobility.

🏠 Building a new home?
🏢 Setting up a business?
🔨 Renovating?

Plan your network infrastructure before the walls are closed.

We just wrapped up a quick and effective temporary install for a customer to monitor their project and manage their site network for a local project. The customer supplied all materials for 27 drops terminated to this patch panel from various locations in the work area. While the customer is happy with the result, we look forward to returning to support them with their final structured cabling requirements!

Which Ethernet cable should you use?

CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, and CAT8 all have their place, but newer doesn't always mean better.

• CAT5e – Affordable and reliable for basic networks up to 1 Gbps. A good choice for budget-conscious installations and legacy systems. Unless specifically requested by a customer, we typically no longer recommend CAT5e.

• CAT6 – Our standard for most residential and small commercial installations. Supports 1 Gbps up to 100 meters and can support 10 Gbps at shorter distances. It offers a great balance of performance, cost, and ease of installation.

• CAT6a – The best choice when you want 10 Gbps performance up to 100 meters and additional protection against interference. Ideal for larger commercial networks, high-performance applications, and installations where future-proofing is important.

• CAT8 – Designed for very high-speed, short-distance applications such as data centers. It is more expensive, thicker, less flexible, and generally unnecessary for typical homes and commercial buildings.

Our recommendation:
🏠 Residential: CAT6 for most applications.
🏢 Commercial: CAT6 or CAT6a depending on bandwidth requirements, distance, and environment.
🖥️ Data Centers: CAT8 where the application specifically calls for it.

When planning a network, the best cable isn't necessarily the highest category—it's the cable that matches the application.
