I was installing a Plug n play MTCLogic controller in the field last week on a 51 amplifier and discovered something. Since there may be only two motor sockets, both switched, we instruct the user to modify one of the motor sockets to being always on, like the accessory socket on newer models. This is a little tricky to do. I realized there is a 6-pin socket right on the front not being used that had "always on" AC on pins 3 and 4. So I cut off the power plug of the controller and added a 6-pin plug. Plugged it in and presto! It worked!
So in the future, if I know the customer has only two motor sockets and the 6-pin socket, I can make the power cable to fit the 6-pin socket eliminating the need to modify one of the motor sockets.
BTW, not all amps without the accessory socket have the 6-pin socket available. There's a lot of variations.
