🐧 Reviving the Pengin Open Source Project 🐧

Greetings, Pengin community!

It's been quite a journey, and I appreciate your patience and continued interest in our open source project. Over the past 10 months, life threw some unexpected challenges my way, which temporarily sidelined our beloved Pengin project. While I won't delve into personal matters, I am thrilled to share that we're back, stronger and more determined than ever.

Our project has always been a labor of love, and I'm excited to announce that we've been hard at work in the background. Today, I'm pleased to highlight some recent fixes and updates we've made to the project. These are just the beginning, and we have exciting plans for the future. Some much needed bug fixes and feature preparation work was done today as I prepare to finalize beta 1.2.

Our vision for Pengin Open Source extends far beyond code. We believe that a thriving open source community is built on a diverse set of talents. That's why we're on the lookout for community volunteers who can help us in various ways, not just coding. Whether you're a systems expert, a documentation guru, or simply someone passionate about building connections, there's a place for you here.

We want to foster an inclusive and collaborative environment, where each contribution is valued. Together, we can make Pengin Open Source an even more powerful tool, and we're eager to hear your feature requests and suggestions.

Our community is loosely attached to my company, and I'm happy to say that stand-out individuals within our community will be first in line for potential employment opportunities or contract work when such opportunities arise.

Dear Facebook community,

We are thrilled to share some important news regarding our recent journey in Japan and our plans for the future. Over the past two years, we have experienced remarkable growth in our client list in Japan, and it has been an incredible learning experience for our team. We are immensely grateful for the opportunities we have had and the relationships we have built in the Japanese market.

With great satisfaction, we are pleased to announce that we have successfully fulfilled all our commitments and obligations in Japan. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to our valued clients, partners, and everyone who has supported us on this remarkable venture.

As we look forward to the next chapter, we wanted to inform you that our Founder and Owner, Stuart Anderson, will be returning to our headquarters in Texas on July 26th. While we remain hopeful about the future in Japan and plan on revisiting this market, we have made the decision to suspend our operations in Japan for now and refocus our efforts on our home ground.

Our primary objective is to expand our client base in the United States and strengthen our core business in Texas. We firmly believe that by nurturing a robust foundation in our home state, we can better position ourselves to thrive in the Asian market once again.

Texas holds immense promise for us, and we are optimistic about what lies ahead. The market dynamics and opportunities in Texas align perfectly with our growth strategy and long-term vision. While we have gained invaluable insights into the Japanese market, we believe that Japan will better serve as a supportive market for our US operations in the future.

Despite these changes, we want to assure you that our commitment to excellence and innovation remains unwavering. We are excited to announce that we will continue to run our highly regarded summer internship program, providing valuable learning experiences to aspiring professionals.

Summer is just around the corner, and Tobu Pengin is excited to announce our summer internship training and development schedule. We are proud to have received strong applications from energetic students, and we look forward to guiding our interns through our well-documented onboarding process.

For those who are accepted or returning interns, we will guide you through setting up your computer for developing software in our Pengin Open Source GitHub repository. We will also provide you with useful training and free guides to help you master the materials, including access to our on-prem virtual servers and cloud systems. Our training will walk you through managing virtual machines and cloud instances, in addition to making software commits to our GitHub repository.

Our ultimate goal is to get our interns familiar with remotely managing back-end systems of all kinds and making contributions to a group GitHub repository. This will be a valuable skill in the industry and will impress potential employers in the future. You will be able to explain in detail what you practiced with us, showing dedication and mastery of a valuable skill set.

For those less technically inclined interns who pass our screening process, we also provide opportunities to build leadership and communication skills. You will have access to our documentation and hiring procedures, and we will teach you how to be a project manager in our field. Last year, we had a few leaders in school come to us, and we built a training curriculum around them. This year, we will use that knowledge and experience to better assist newcomers from the start and make for a more robust training experience.

At Tobu Pengin, we are always looking to improve, and we document new policies, processes, and procedures every month to make them available to our team. We believe that our internship program is a viable option for those seeking internships or job retraining, especially if they are struggling to find a paid option. We never ask our interns or trainees to do actual for-profit work for our company. Everything you do is in support of our open-source project or documentation for our internal procedures to help your fellow interns learn.

In conclusion, we are excited to welcome our interns this summer and provide them with valuable technical and leadership skills that will serve them well in their future careers. We believe that our internship program is a win-win for both our interns and our company, and we are committed to making it a success for everyone involved. We are excited to announce the progress we have made on Pengin-pi b1.2. Our team has recently completed the ORM for the messenger API, and we are now working on writing the messenger API, logging, security policy setup, adding limits, and improving the scheduling system. We are confident that b1.2 will be a significant improvement on the current b1.1.8 version.

Looking ahead, we have an exciting roadmap planned for b1.3, which includes audio and visual team meeting integration. We are also exploring the possibility of integrating chatGPT's API as part of our middleware system for the future release of b1.4.

As we continue to grow, we are looking to offer internship opportunities to those who are interested in gaining experience in an open-source environment. Our team will be working on beta 1.3 and conducting integration testing with our main business. This version will include full chat and video conference capabilities, like Slack or Discord.
