Is your computer fan making a lot of noise? Dust gets pulled in and accumulates. To keep the computer cool the fan must speed up. This is your computer's way of telling you that you need maintenance. Excessive noise can also indicate malware. Please don't ignore the noise - it could do permanent damage. Time to call Jimmy B, Computer Guy! (Much improved artwork provided by Rachael Ballard)

Something many people don't know: most laptop screen hinges are adjustable, but you have to take it apart to adjust them. Over time, the hinges tighten making it more difficult to open. At that point, the plastic hinge mounting points are being stressed and will probably eventually break, leaving you with a laptop that won't open or close properly, if at all.
