This is the momma here, Linda. This post is not pug related but is something near and dear to my heart and I want to get word out about the best place I have ever visited so Iâm going to share a little story with you.
Today on a whim we took a drive to Havre de Grace, MD. Despite being just over an hour away, we have never been there. We went to go antiquing and thatâs where we started. But I want to tell you about the most wonderful place we stopped at in their shopping district, or at least thatâs what I will call the area.
âThe Luckiest Lightâ. This is an art gallery for artists with disabilities, physical or intellectual. They currently have a wonderful show going from July 3rd - August 30 called âTo Whom It May Concernâ. I wish I had had more time to spend here and read up on more of the art work and listen to some of the audio they had going on but for the time we had, this place hit me in all the feels in ways I wasnât expecting. This place was all about inclusion. The art was wonderful. The stories to go with the art. For me, the stories werenât eye opening as I grew up along side this community but the stories were confirmation of what I saw, what I felt, what I saw my brother and his friends lived. It brought on a flood of tears and good conversation with the staff/owners of the gallery.
It did my heart so much good to see such a place available to so many. I was very much caught off guard by the emotions that this brought to me. I wish there been opportunities for Brad but Iâm so glad to see this opportunity for others now. A place for the unseen to be seen and heard.
If you are in the area please stop in and take a look. I didnât have the funds to buy any art today but I couldnât leave without contributing in some way so a t-shirt came home with me. All funds go back to the artists. And you can leave a donation if you donât find anything you want to bring home with you (or donât have wall space, which is a problem for us as well LOL).
