We are excited to have been approved as a volunteer maker for Toddler Mobility Trainers!

We are partnering with MakeGood, a nonprofit that connects volunteer makers with children who need custom mobility equipment, to 3D print a custom wheelchair for a child.

One of the most important goals of this project is that the child and their family receive their wheelchair completely free of charge. Families raising children with disabilities already face enough financial challenges. The cost of a mobility device shouldn’t be one of them.

This is near and dear to my heart, because as most of you know, my late husband was a paraplegic confined to a wheelchair. Those things aren’t cheap!! If a family has to purchase a chair they are looking at thousands and thousands of dollars!!!

The cost of materials to produce one child wheelchair is less than $200.

We have the ability to donate the time and use of our printers to help.

While the wheelchair is donated, producing it comes with real costs. Funds raised through this campaign help cover:

3D printer and equipment costs
Printing materials and supplies
Misc expenses (replacement parts, shipping, and other project costs)

Every donation helps turn raw materials into a custom mobility device that gives a child greater independence, confidence, and freedom to explore the world.

100% of your donation goes straight to me in order to purchase the filament and hardware.

As we add on to our little print patch let’s welcome the latest addition with the beginning of

The Adventures of Maximus & the Poopless Posse

Deep inside K & J Creatives lives a mighty 3D-printing crew.

First came Maximus, the K2 Plus. Big. Strong. Fast. Maximus doesn’t concern himself with petty matters like filament p**p. He has prints to conquer. ⚔️

Then arrived Poopless Pete, the first Snapmaker U1.

Pete took one look at the mountain of multicolor filament waste and declared, “We don’t have to live like this.” And thus, the revolution began. 💩🚫

Soon Trashless Trixie joined him. Trixie is efficient, organized, and deeply offended by unnecessary purge waste. If Pete leaves so much as a stray strand of filament lying around, Trixie notices. ♻️

And now there’s Klean Karen.

Karen surveyed the print room, looked at Pete, looked at Trixie, and then looked over at Maximus.

She wasn’t impressed.

Karen doesn’t make a mess. Karen doesn’t tolerate a mess. And Karen would absolutely like to speak to whoever sliced this file. 😂

Together, Poopless Pete, Trashless Trixie, and Klean Karen crank out multicolor prints while trying to keep every possible inch of filament out of the trash.

Meanwhile, Maximus sits nearby, quietly doing the heavy lifting and wondering how he ended up working with these people.

But when K & J Creatives has orders to fill, they put their differences aside.

Maximus brings the muscle. 💪
Pete keeps the p**p under control. 💩
Trixie tackles the trash. ♻️
Karen keeps everybody clean. ✨

And somehow, against all odds, the print farm survives another day.

Mostly because nobody lets Karen see the purge bucket.
