Most conversations about AI still focus on capability.
But this year, it's shaping up to be about something else entirely:
operational readiness.
Robotics, automation, and physical AI don’t fail because the models aren’t smart enough.
They fail because:
-Systems aren’t integrated
-Environments aren’t prepared
-Ownership and direction aren’t clear
The next phase of AI isn’t a software upgrade.
We won't be asking the same old famous “Can AI do this?” question.
Instead:
1. Where does it run?
2. How does it integrate?
3. Who governs it?
4. What happens when it breaks?
These are operational questions, not theoretical ones.
And in 2026, those answers will matter more than the model itself, because AI maturity isn’t measured by intelligence anymore.
It’s measured by "Ex*****on".
