Before I even knew what a "mentor" was, I sought out mentors.

And I am so glad those men and women spent the time that they didn't have to - and continue to do so - for the past 11 years of my career - to share valuable information, resources, hard truths, goal focus tips and more.

I would not be who I am, where I am, or as successful as I am (or overcome everything I have) if it were not for every single mentor I have had in my life.

You don't need to have mentors in your EXACT field. I didn't know what inbound marketing was six years ago.

Eleven years ago, I was strictly communication and fundraising focused for politics - I didn't know what social media meant about that.

Twenty years ago, as we all wanted to be something completely different as a child.

But even today - speaking with a friend who is in a completely different field than I - they offer me the value and mentorship skills.

(Being able to take that same valuable advice and wisdom and pass it on to those who look to me as a mentor.)

Mentor.

Be mentored.

There's no better advice.

It's not easy admitting you have much to learn when you have "x" amount of years of experience.

But the truth is whether you have one year or 20 years - we all have things to learn.

That's why mentors are so important.

And I have been amazingly blessed by the mentors in my life.

Grateful is an understatement.

And perhaps the number one thing I've had to learn is that asking someone to be your mentor requires a lot of humility.

Every single one of mentors is a person who said "no" to hiring me. But every single one has said "yes" into believing in my ability, skill, and success.

And with every single mentor (no matter how hard that pride is to swallow) I've gained an astronomical amount of knowledge that I would have never gained otherwise.

Don't be afraid of no - be afraid to not grow.
