If you have a UPS / Battery Backup, at some point, it will go bad. The batteries inside don't last forever. If the units start beeping, hold down the on/off button for 5 seconds and let go. It will turn off the device and usually stop the beeping. At that point, you will need to replace the battery inside or get a new unit. Some models, like those from Cyberpower, don't make it user-replaceable. APC's batteries can be removed and replaced, but a lot of the time it's easier to get a new unit (or decide you don't need a UPS that alerts you at 6AM that it's end-of-life.

Do you know that pressing the on/off or "power" button on a computer usually only puts it to sleep, a low power mode. To shut down a Windows computer, click on the Windows icon on the bottom left of icons on the bottom of the screen, click the circle with the line originating from the center up north, and choose "Shut Down".

I told everyone that I was not going to the Dunwoody electronics recycling event but at 10:56 this morning I decided I was gonna try to squeeze in a drop off. I went to the website and there were two spots left out of 600 and I grabbed one of them and signed up, drove over to St. Luke’s and dropped a truck full of electronics off. You gotta love Dunwoody.
