Life never happens how you plan. Ever.

This past week I’ve had some surprising curve balls thrown my way. Some good, some startling.

I’m not typically someone who does well when blindsided and this week, that happened. It wasn’t great, I definitely cried, but the thing is, Gods not gonna tell us His plans. He just tells ya to hang on tight and know that if it’s not good it’s not final.

So I’m holding on to the fact that a setback is never that, but it’s actually a set up.

Bigger and better things on the horizon y’all.

When I was a kid, I grew up on ranches and farms. Outside, covered in mud, around all sorts of creatures.

I hated it. I wanted to be in the city so bad. To walk the concrete streets.

Oh how naïve I was.

We get lost in the thought of greener pastures and forget to soak in the beauty of where we are. To honor our present.

Now as an adult I love days like these. Getting to spend time on ranches and farms. Outside, in the mud, around creatures.

What’s something you did all the time as a kid and was so annoying to you but now you love it and look back on those memories fondly?

Also, how rad did this shoot turn out or what?!

One thing I love about transitioning to elopement photography is getting to hear how people fall in love, but I REALLY love to hear about the missteps that made what they have now so special.

We get these ideas stuck in our head, when we’re single, that our future partner needs to check off all these boxes on our list and we don’t want to meet them in certain ways. Must be 6’2” to ride this ride 😜 and definitely don’t want to meet on line.

At least, that’s how it was for me and my friends when I was single. Lol

Let me just tell ya though, it’s important to have standards but a check list? You don’t need it.

People are SO much more than the sum of what we think we want from them.

My sister & her hubs, the hotties in this pic, met in Highschool and became fast friends, but they were not interested in each other at first. They dated other people and didn’t really see the other as 💥😍, but, one day close to the end of their junior year they were both like WOAH, you’re my person.

Their love grew out of friendship not checked boxes and it’s pretty freaking cute!

Let’s talk about this tho? Do you/did you have a check list for your person? Why or why not?

Fun fact, Taylor (my hubs) met Forrest when they were both living in Australia at Hillsong.

When we moved to Colorado, Katie & Forrest (hot couple in this photo) adopted us into their friend group and constantly volunteer to be in all of our brand photos. They’ve known each other since they were both littles but didn’t start dating till basically the end of Highschool. This year they made some big moves, they bought their first house and adopted their first doggo Toast.

Katie & Forrest are a power couple for a few reasons—Katie is a bad ass Middle School Therapist and Forrest is a Wordsmith and Creative Director! They also just became bee keepers!!

Anyhow, we know some pretty cool people. That is all.

Launched my new business then just ran away to the beach!

Any how, I’m booking couples sessions and elopements! Got 2 ceremonies on the books for this year so far, which isn’t a lot, but I’m really proud of that! So, I’m taking the victory!

Y’all know I’m big about taking the victories, small and big!

I’ve been thinking about wonder and joy because they’re very easily lost but vital to living a full life.

It’s so easy to wake up any find things wrong with life, especially if you’re constantly dwelling on them.

At home, it’s so easy to wake up and focus on the things that frustrate me or make life hard, but when I’m on vacation it’s so much easier to find the beauty in all the moments, even the bad ones.

I pray that I can learn to keep the mindset of joy and wonder that I have when traveling, and I can bring it home with me. It takes lots of work, yes, but it’s freaking worth it.

Ok, today is the day I finally reveal my “secret project” which is actually so much more than that. It is a full on switch up, life change.

If you’ve been a part of my digital fam for a while, you may have noticed that I deleted every single post and have completely started over and that’s because I’m no longer using my account for only influencer things.

This is now a place for all my passions and creative talents. I’m multifaceted do in honor of that, I’m officially launching my Adventure Elopement, Unique Destination, and couple photography business with Taylor!!!

I have been photographing things and people for a while, directions shoots, and styling them but I never thought I’d start my own thing. But, like Justin Bieber says, never say never.

Launching this business combines my love for people, adventure, creativity, styling, working along side Taylor, and love.

You might be wondering, are you quitting social media marketing, you’ve been doing that for 9 years! The answer is no, but I’m taking a huge step back. I have 2 full time clients that I’ll continue to work with and will be taking on coaching clients but other than that, I’m shifting my focus to all the hotties falling in love!

I into the deep end with this one, and I don’t plan on turning back! I moved my website over to , got one of templates, hired to do my branding, and booked 2 weddings this year so far and am booking more.

So, with all of that being said, meet Always August, a husband and wife photography duo for the ramblers, the drifters, and the adventures.

Hey, just wanted to remind you that it’s ok to change.

In fact, it’s good. Yeah, it can be REALLY hard, but it’s good.

You’re allowed to switch things up. You can change your style. Your tastes. Heck, you’re even allowed to change your mind. It’s not shameful.

Sure, people may not understand, but that’s ok. Not everyone is supposed to understand you.

Like I love to say, you’re not a taco, you can’t please everyone. So, if you’re changing and people don’t get it that is 100% ok.
