Today, we’re putting business aside for a moment to celebrate one of the people behind it. 🎂❤️

Happy 28th Birthday to our co-founder, Michela! 🎉

If you’ve met Michela through 1903, a community event, networking, or one of the many relationships we’ve been fortunate enough to build, you’ve probably experienced the heart she brings into everything she does.

Behind the scenes, she’s an enormous part of what makes 1903 unique! From the creativity and ideas to the relationships and countless little details (your lists), that go into building this business every day.

We’re incredibly grateful for everything this past year has brought and even more excited about what’s ahead.

Today, though, the designs can wait (sorry everyone) 😝

Here’s to 28, Michela! 🥂🎈

Drop her some birthday love in the comments! ❤️

Have you ever looked at a successful competitor and thought…

“Maybe we should be doing what they’re doing.” 👀

I get it. As a Creative Director, I actually think understanding your competition is an important part of building a strong brand.

The problem starts when inspiration turns into imitation.

I look for patterns.

-What is everyone doing?
-What are customers already used to seeing?
-Where is there an opportunity to do something different?

If every business in your industry looks and sounds the same, it becomes much harder for customers to understand why they should choose you.

✨ Study your competitors to understand the market, not to become them.

Here’s a quick challenge:

Take a look at your three biggest competitors and then look at your own brand.

What would make a customer remember yours?

Some stories deserve to be told more than once. ❤️

Last year, we shared the story of Xela Bistro and its founders, Frances & Abel, two first-generation entrepreneurs who have built something special right here in Duncanville.

But what has always stood out to us about Xela goes beyond the food.

It's their love for family, their gratitude for the community that supported them, and their commitment to giving that support right back.

As September begins, we wanted to revisit a story that continues to remind us what doing business with intention can look like.

What a great night with the Fort Worth business community.

We were finally able to attend an Access Fort Worth event at the beautiful Fort Worth Botanic Garden.

Thank you to founder Isabel Cable for creating a space filled with intentional community leaders who genuinely want to learn from and connect with one another.

We also had the opportunity to hear from Doug Renfro of Mrs. Renfro’s and Jeremy A. Johnson of The Novyx Group, who shared some incredible insight and wisdom around growing and scaling a business.

Business is about so much more than sending proposals.

The person you meet today doesn’t need to become a client tomorrow. They might become a friend, referral partner, collaborator, or even a mentor.

Real relationships take respect, consistency, and time. That’s how trust is built.

Kinda chic to bet on yourself. ✨

Building a business isn’t always glamorous, but watching an idea slowly become something real makes every late night, hard decision, and leap of faith worth it.

Still learning. Still building. Still betting on us. 🤎

We officially no longer have FOMO! 😂

Last night, we finally made it out to DallasMeetup & now we understand the hype.

With more than 3,000 leaders RSVP’d, Texas Live! was packed with entrepreneurs, professionals, founders, and community leaders. The thing that really stood out to us wasn’t the size of the crowd….It was the energy in the room!

Conversations happening everywhere. New introductions being made. Old connections finally getting the chance to meet face-to-face.

We even had the opportunity to reconnect with so many people we’ve crossed paths with over the years & we even saw some familiar local stars, like Isabel from Access Fort Worth, running everywhere at once shaking hands and making connections. 😂

For a few hours, hundreds of entrepreneurs were able to let loose and surround themselves with people who understand what it means to build something.

The long days. The uncertainty. The constant problem-solving and, of course, the million different hats business owners somehow find themselves wearing.

There’s something refreshing about being in a room full of people who just get it!

A huge thank you to Carson Gibbons and the entire Dallas MeetUp team for the work that went into organizing, promoting, and bringing an event of this size together.

To every business owner, entrepreneur, and leader that our team had the opportunity to meet last night: thank you for your stories, and most importantly, your time.
Gicova it’s always a pleasure watching you at work.

Until the next MeetUp. 🤝

Community isn’t something you talk about. It’s something you show up for. ❤️

Last weekend, hundreds of volunteers came together at AT&T Stadium to help Arlington ISD students start the school year with backpacks, supplies, resources, and plenty of encouragement. 🎒📚

These are the community leaders we’re proud to do business alongside. Thank you to all the hundreds of volunteers! 👏🏼

Huge shoutout to Arlington Arlington Young Professionals and the Greater Arlington Chamber for helping bring so many people together to serve. A special shoutout to our co-founder Junior Castro for being one of those leaders who continues to show up for Arlington. 🙌

A beautiful website isn’t always an effective website.

One of the biggest misconceptions in business is believing that if something looks good, it will automatically convert.

The truth is...

People don’t buy because your website is beautiful.
They buy because they understand what you do, why it matters, and how you can help them.

That’s why, before we think about colors, animations, or fancy design, we focus on strategy.

Because clarity builds confidence.
Confidence builds trust.
And trust leads to action.

✨ Pretty design gets attention. Effective design gets results.

💬 What’s the first thing you look for when you visit a business’s website?

✨Beautiful vs. Strategy✨

At 1903, we believe every color, website, and brand should have a purpose & not just a pretty face.

”Pretty design gets attention. Effective design gets results.”🧠

👀 More on this soon.
