Christmas Tree this year has handmade ornaments that I have Colected over the years… the United Methodist Women’s group in Port Jefferson New York late 1970’s wooden clothes pins and popsicle sticks… some of my Favorites! This is what I like about being a “collector of collections”

40 Year Graphic Design Retrospective
Starting in the early 1990’s I worked for a small design agency in Arlington. One of the main clients I worked on… an early telecommunications company, wound up following me for almost the rest of my career. From telecom to mining this relationship stood the test of time. Even as the original contact moved on and her assistant took over the management role around 2009.… Pictured is a freestanding trade-show booth I designed and produced...that was fabricated in South Africa for Mine Expo in 2014.

40 Year Graphic Design Retrospective
A few years before the first Mac computer, in 1984, I designed a logo and package design for a small, Dallas perfume and lotion producer. I used archive resources sketched and inked the ornate design… and after several revisions, came to a design that the client approved. I Created the reproduction art and chose the colors. This was the final result. It was the first project that earned recognition in the local Graphic Design Community.

SOLD ;-) The newest Madison’s Monkeys Fine Art Soft Fabric Sculpture. Meet Frida Kahlo Girl Monkey
At a family Christmas, I found this pair of Freda Kahlo knee socks in my stocking. It took both socks and a small fuzzy lime green sock to create this Doll – by far my most ambitious.

40 Year Graphic Design Retrospective
Justin Boots Chippewa Trade Catalog
Blanchard Design 1989

A career favorite project. When product design was expected to tell the story of the product — I was assigned the 1995 Dealer catalog for Chippewa Boots… Robbie Capps Photography and I built sets, hired models and shot on location. We had the logo etched out of sandstone… Hauled in sand and rocks, even had asphalt put down on a sheet of plywood for the biker boots. It won a Silver Award in the Ft Worth Art Directors Competition, it was a blast; and the last big shoot — Before the digital revolution exploded on the scene.

Quilt Fabric Recreations

I was privileged to live next door to my Grandmother… She was a resourceful widow when I was very little. I would sit in her den and watched her sew ¬ While I sorted her buttons. She raised chickens sold eggs and took in sewing to make ends meet. I remember going with her to the feed shore and looking way up at the towering shelves of feed in pretty printed fabric. Quilts were a part of life in the winter. And she had used those feed sack to make clothes for herself, my dad, and his two sisters my Aunts. She gave me her last quilt when I left home.

I have collected antique feed sacks for years, and one of my fabric design offerings is recreating these patterns and offering them in custom colors for the quilting community. I recreate them in black and white layers in order to customize the color scheme for clients. And then have them printed on fabric.

Some of my feed sacks were donated; and featured at the Cotton & Thrift Exhibit. Curated by professor Marian Ann J. Montgomery at the Museum of Texas Tech University in 2019
