Playing it safe might keep everyone comfortable. But bold brands aren't built to blend in.

The strongest brands know who they are, who they're speaking to, and what makes them different. They don't water down their message just to win everyone's approval.

Be bold. Be recognizable. Attract the right audience.

Churches tell people to love their neighbors, then schedule an event that keeps everyone out of their own neighborhood on Halloween.

That raises a bigger leadership question:
Are we empowering people to live out the mission or just asking them to attend our version of it?

If the mission is loving your neighbors, handing out candy on your own porch should count. You shouldn’t have to stand in our parking lot for it to matter.

And this goes beyond church.

Leaders spend so much time telling people WHAT to do that we forget to tell the story that makes them care.

Why does this matter? What have you experienced that made you believe in it? Where do they fit into that story?

When people feel the purpose, they can carry it somewhere you never thought to take it.

But you have to let them.

Tell the story. Give them direction. Let them make it their own.

If it only counts when you organize it, are you building leaders or building attendance?

I’m so excited for my friend, business coach, and newest client, Michael, to take the stage at AI Marketing World.

I joined Michael’s team this past month to help bring a song, a cinematic story, and a live performance moment to life.

And the song? It has no business being this good. So well written, with ridiculously good production by Justin Wantz.

The creative work was just plain fun. I can’t wait to share some of it with you this week.

For everyone attending AI Marketing World: you’re in for something special. There’s nothing quite like experiencing a moment like this live, and I’m a little jealous you get to be in the room.

Can’t wait for you all to experience it.

You don't need to reach everyone. You need to reach the right people.

The more specific your message, the stronger your connection with the audience that actually matters to your business.

Stop trying to be everything to everyone. Build a brand that speaks directly to the people you want to attract.

Less generic. More connection. Stronger brand.

The less glamorous side of the office doesn’t get seen much, but it’s where some of the most important storytelling happens, and where creativity can get stuck.

Editing and honest, transparent feedback are key to moving a project forward and making the story stronger.

Your brand isn't for everyone. And it shouldn't be.

Trying to appeal to everyone can leave your message sounding like everyone else's. The strongest brands know their audience, own their voice, and aren't afraid to stand out.

Stop chasing everyone's attention. Start connecting with the right people.

New on the blog this week! We're talking about why being memorable matters more than being everyone's favorite.

Some days, building a business feels a lot like watching Mak run into the fog.

You can see what’s right in front of you. But beyond that? Not much.

You have an idea of where you’re going. You have a vision for what you’re building. But you can’t always see how you’re going to get there.

And a lot of days, I feel exactly like this picture.

Running full speed into something I can’t quite see yet.

But here’s what I love about this photo.

Mak isn’t worried about the fog.

He’s not standing there waiting for it to clear. He’s not concerned about whether he can see the whole path.

He’s just moving forward.

And maybe there’s something to learn from that.

Because this week, I’ve had the opportunity to see some of that fog clear.

Big projects are wrapping up. Clients are seeing real success. Stories we’ve spent months developing are finally coming to life.

And the newest Stories by David Schomer cinematic piece is officially shot. I can’t wait to share it.

It’s been a reminder that sometimes you have to keep moving, even when you can’t see very far ahead.

Today, I’m grateful.

Grateful for a tired body.
Grateful for rest.
Grateful for the work.
Grateful for the people who trust me with their stories.
And grateful for the opportunity to see what’s on the other side of some of that fog.

You don’t always need to see the whole path to know you’re headed somewhere worth going.

Sometimes, you just have to keep running.

I’ve been brainstorming the next project for Stories by David, and I’m so excited about where it’s headed!

In the meantime, I wanted to reshare a story from a few months ago.

I love finding the bigger story hidden beneath the surface. The memories, moments, and connections that make us who we are.

The things that make us, us.
