To check it:
- Open your profile and tap Edit profile
- Go to Location, then Service area
- Add every town you take jobs in, up to 20
- Remove any you've stopped driving to

I wrote down every step I run on a contractor's Google Business Profile. It fits on three pages.

Most of the profiles I open have the same problems. Keywords stuffed into the business name. A street address showing for a business that works out of a truck. Six categories when one is right.

The fix is a list, done in order, the same list every time.

Here is the process:

1. Before anything: the website is live, and the name, address and phone match everywhere.
2. Name. Legal business name only. No services, no cities.
3. Address. Show it only if customers walk in. If you work from a truck, hide it and list the cities you serve.
4. Categories. One primary. Two or three secondary if they are real.
5. Hours, a local phone number, the correct website link.
6. Photos. The truck, the owner, one finished job.
7. Services. Only what you sell, matching the website, in plain names.
8. Description. Who you are, what you do, where you work. Plain language.
9. Reviews. Answer every one, including the bad ones.
10. Then keep it current. New job photos, a post when something is worth posting.

None of this promises anything. Google decides who shows where. You decide whether the profile is right.
