We live in an amazing world in which some people see an obstacle in everything, while others always see a way around.
A few years back we rode to Springfield Missouri for a Spyder event. A guy came rolling along in a wheelchair, and stopped next to a Spyder pulling a small trailer. He slid off the wheelchair, and while sitting on the ground, folded the wheelchair up, and popped it in the trailer. He then dragged himself along the ground, pulled himself up onto the bike, started it and drove off. Amazing.
I had ridden the Blue Ridge Parkway up to Roanoke and was stopped at the large star on the top of the mountain, looking out over the valley when I heard a high performance bike coming. He was motoring. He pulled up next to us in a Ducati. His one arm was gone between the elbow and the shoulder. He had ridden all the way from Ohio. Amazing
Today, Kevin and I rode down to Anniston AL to meet up with some other riders for lunch, and a little fun. Nice short 130 mile run there to blow the cobwebs out.
The one rider was an older lady, probably in her fifties or sixties. She was only 4 for 4 inches tall and quite small. Her husband had modified her running boards and brake pedal so she could reach and she was riding and competing with the best of us. Amazing.
These people just find a way.
