My name is MaryRose Peterson and my husband's name is Martin. In 2012, he was falsely accused, wrongfully convicted by a jury, sentenced to “Life with no chance of parole" and sent to Taylor Correctional Institution in Perry, Florida. In 2015, we lost our Direct Appeal and we had no money to hire an attorney, to try to get us back in court. All hope seemed lost, but thank God, it wasn't! We soon d
iscovered THE BEST KEPT SECRET by our criminal justice system! We learned that juror misconduct (aka "Direct Criminal Contempt of Court") is a felony, punishable by heavy fines and/or jail time. As Americans, our Constitution guarantees us the Sixth Amendment right to choose who we believe will be “fair and impartial” in judging our case. When jurors swear and take an Oath, under penalty of perjury, to answer honestly when the judge, prosecutor, and defense attorney question them, but then lie or conceal the truth of who they really are, they take away the accused’s right to choose. THAT WARRANTS A NEW TRIAL! Over the next year, we enlisted the help of family and friends, and investigated the jurors in Martin's case. To our surprise, we found bias on the part of 3 out of 6 jurors! Six months later, we wrote a Pro Se Motion that got us back in court. We then hired Attorney Bryan Savy (Melbourne, Florida) to represent Martin, and on July 28, 2016 he helped us negotiate an agreement with the State. Martin was set free that afternoon, praise God!!! On July 16, 2020 Covert Ops Jury Investigations became an LLC. Our mission is to leverage public information, to find juror misconduct, and give other families a “vehicle” back into court. We also created this support group, to reach out to families with loved ones who were convicted by a jury. We exist to give you help, and to reinstate your hope that YOU CAN be reunited with your loved one, on THIS side of the fences!
