A 100G link is four lanes. Only one of them has to fail. One dirty strand and Forward Error Correction (FEC) covers for it. Right up until it doesn't, and the whole link drops.

Before the LinkRunner 100G, you had 3 bad options:
Option 1: Swap an expensive optical transceiver and hope it works.
Option 2: Book a fiber specialist and stay down until the truck rolls.
Option 3: Spend tens of thousands on testing gear made for carriers.

Nobody built a tool for the person actually standing at the rack. Until now.

Meet the . Powerful enough to see what your switch can't. Simple enough that anyone on your team can run it.

100G is here, and it's different.

A 100G link is four lanes of 25 gig running side by side, in step. Only one of them has to fail.

→ 100G means more throughput, but fewer guardrails. And when it fails, that's not one ticket. That's the whole building.

→ Between speed, lanes and FEC there are about thirty possible combinations on the port, and nothing negotiates. Trial and error isn't a valid strategy.

→ You shouldn't have to be a fiber engineer to manage a super-fast connection. That's why we created the LinkRunner 100G — the first-ever 100G network tester designed for enterprise networks.

Our new white paper walks through six ways 25G and 100G links fail — oil on one strand, FEC on at one end and off at the other, a laser drifting in a hot rooftop conduit — and why not one of them was solvable from the switch CLI. Glossary included, so nobody has to pretend they already knew the difference between SR4 and LR4.
