Plan content 90 days before each holiday.

When search volume spikes, you're already ranking.

Most contractors react. You'll be prepared.

Which holiday is your business busiest? Are you marketing for it 90 days ahead?

From invisible to #1 in 120 days. Here's exactly how we did it.

Client: Commercial HVAC contractor

Day 0:
→ 5-page website, last updated 2021
→ 67 monthly visitors
→ Google Business Profile unclaimed
→ Ranked #47 for "commercial HVAC Cleveland"
→ Leads: 100% referrals, zero from search

The Problem:
20+ years in business, projects worth $500K-$2M each, but facility managers Googling "commercial HVAC Cleveland" found competitors instead.

The Strategy:
→ Rebuilt the website, fixed technical issues, optimized Google Business Profile, built local citations
→ Created comprehensive guides answering what facility managers actually search
→ Featured in a local real estate newsletter, joined the Facility Managers Association, built case studies

The Results (120 days):
→ Traffic: 67 → 940 monthly visitors (+1,304%)
→ "commercial HVAC Cleveland": #1 (was #47)
→ Profile views up 820%, calls up 640%
→ Leads from search: 0 → 31 by month 6
→ Closed 3 projects worth $1.8M
→ ROI: 45x investment

What Moved the Needle:

Specificity: targeted "commercial" HVAC directly, not residential + commercial
Comprehensive content: facility managers research heavily before big spends
Patience: little movement in the first 60 days, rankings jumped days 60-90

Even in competitive B2B markets, SEO works. But you can't half-ass it.

120 days of focused work = $1.8M in closed business.

Most contractors have no idea if their Local SEO is actually working.

They're just hoping for the best.

We created a free checklist that covers everything you need to audit your local online presence.

Comment "CHECKLIST" below and we'll send it straight to you.

What's included:
✅ Google Business Profile optimization (15 items)
✅ Website technical SEO (12 items)
✅ Local citations & NAP consistency (8 items)
✅ Review generation & management (7 items)
✅ Content & keyword strategy (10 items)
✅ Local link building (6 items)

How to use it:

1. Download the checklist
2. Go through each item
3. Check off what you've done
4. Fix what's missing

Most businesses score 30-40% on their first audit.

After implementing the missing pieces, they see measurable improvements within 60-90 days.

This is the same checklist we use with $5K/month clients. You're getting it free.

Why free? Because I'd rather give you a tool that helps you improve than sell you a service you don't understand.

If you use it and realize "this is more than I can handle," call us. If you use it and fix everything yourself, great, you just saved money and improved your visibility.

Comment "CHECKLIST" and actually use it.

Want Google to display your business info more prominently in search results?

Add schema markup.

Sounds technical. Actually easy.

What is schema markup?

Code that tells Google exactly what information on your page means.

Without it: Google guesses.
With it: Google knows for sure.

What schema does for local businesses:

→ Shows your star rating in search results
→ Displays your business hours
→ Highlights your service area
→ Shows pricing information
→ Pulls FAQ answers into featured snippets

Real impact:

Plumber added review schema to their site.

Their 4.8-star rating now shows up directly in Google search results.

Click-through rate increased 34%.

Same content. Same ranking. Just made the listing more visible and trustworthy.

How to implement:

If you use WordPress: Yoast SEO or Schema Pro plugins
If you use Wix/Squarespace: Built-in schema tools
If you have a developer: Show them Google's schema documentation

Which schema types matter most for local businesses:

→ LocalBusiness schema (name, address, phone, hours)
→ Review schema (star ratings)
→ FAQ schema (questions and answers)
→ Service schema (services you offer)

This is low-hanging fruit.

Takes an afternoon to implement. Works forever.

Have you added schema markup to your site yet?

97% of consumers search online for local businesses.

Think about that for a second.

97%.

That means if you're not visible online, you're invisible to nearly everyone.

But here's the part that blows my mind:

46% of all Google searches are local.

Half of all searches happening right now are people looking for local businesses, services, or information.

"Plumber near me"
"Roofer in Cleveland"
"Best HVAC company Cleveland Heights"
"Kitchen remodeling contractor"

That's happening thousands of times per day in your market.

And yet:

Only 44% of local businesses have claimed their Google Business Profile.

Less than 30% publish content regularly.

Most don't track where their leads come from.

The disconnect is insane.

Customers are searching. Contractors aren't showing up.

It's like having a store with no sign, no lights, and no front door.

You might have the best products inside, but nobody knows you exist.

Here's the opportunity:

Your competitors probably aren't doing this right either.

If you just:
→ Claim and optimize your Google Business Profile
→ Make your website fast and mobile-friendly
→ Publish helpful content answering customer questions
→ Build genuine local citations and reviews

You're already ahead of 70% of your local competition.

The bar is low. The opportunity is massive.

97% of your potential customers are searching online.

Are they finding you, or your competitors?

"Hey Siri, find a plumber near me."

This is how 50% of searches will happen in 2026.

If your SEO strategy ignores voice search, you're optimizing for a world that's disappearing.

Here's what's changing:

Text Search (traditional): "emergency plumber cleveland"
Voice Search (now): "Who's the best emergency plumber near me that's available right now?"

Voice searches are longer, conversational, question-based, hyper-local, and intent-heavy.

Why This Matters:

Old approach:
Target: "HVAC repair Cleveland"
Content: "We provide HVAC repair in Cleveland."

New approach:
Target: "Why is my furnace blowing cold air?"
Content: a full answer covering causes, troubleshooting, and when to call a pro.

The businesses that win voice search:
→ Answer specific questions in natural language
→ Optimize for "near me" searches
→ Have fast, mobile-friendly sites
→ Include conversational FAQs
→ Use schema markup to structure answers

Real Example:
An HVAC company created content answering 25 common voice search questions, like "How do I know if my AC needs freon?"

Result:
→ 40% of traffic now comes from question-based searches
→ Most are voice searches (based on query length)
→ Leads convert 28% higher (they're pre-educated)

The Opportunity:

Most local contractors haven't adapted yet. They're optimizing for "plumber cleveland" while customers ask Alexa "who can fix my leaking toilet today?"

The businesses that pivot now will dominate the next 5 years.

"Backlinks don't matter anymore."

I keep hearing this. Usually from people who gave up trying to build them.

Backlinks absolutely still matter. Just not how they used to.

What Changed:
2010: any backlink = good. People bought thousands of directory links. Worked.
2025: Google's algorithm is sophisticated. Quality beats quantity.

→ 1 link from Cleveland.com (local news): huge value
→ 100 links from random directories: zero value, maybe even harmful

Why Backlinks Still Matter:

Authority: respected sites linking to you signals trust.
Discovery: Google finds new pages by following links.
Relevance: industry-specific links signal expertise.

What Works Now:
✅ Local news features, industry associations, supplier directories, testimonials, community sponsorships, Chamber of Commerce, guest posts

What Doesn't Work:
❌ Buying links, link farms, automated directories, comment spam, low-quality guest posts

Example:
Two roofing companies, same city:
Company A: 400 backlinks (mostly directories), low authority, ranks page 2-3.
Company B: 40 backlinks (local news, industry sites, Chamber), high authority, ranks #1-3.

Quality wins. Every time.

The Strategy: stop chasing links, build relationships.
→ Do interesting work, get featured in local news
→ Join industry associations, get directory links
→ Sponsor events, get website mentions
→ Partner with suppliers, get manufacturer links

That's how link building works now.

Still think backlinks don't matter?

Every Friday at 3 PM, we have "Win of the Week."

Everyone shares one client win, personal achievement, or something they're proud of from the week.

Last Friday:

Sarah: "Helped a roofer jump from position #8 to #2 in local pack. He called crying happy tears."

Mike: "Finally figured out why that HVAC client's traffic was tanking. Their hosting company moved servers without telling them. Site was down 40% of the time."

Jessica: "Published my first 2,000-word blog post on kitchen remodeling costs. Real info, not fluff."

Me: "Signed a client who said 'I've been burned by marketing agencies before, but you're different.'"

Here's why this matters:

SEO can feel like screaming into the void. You publish content, optimize pages, build links. And nothing happens, for months.

Then suddenly: rankings jump, traffic spikes, the client gets flooded with calls.

Celebrating small wins keeps the team motivated through the wait between "we're working hard" and "it's working."

Plus, it reminds us why we do this. Not to move numbers on a dashboard, but to help real businesses grow.

What's your win of the week? Work or personal, share it!

Your Google Business Profile is probably worth $50,000+ a year to your business.

The Impact:
Clients who optimize their GMB see 200-400% more profile views, 150-300% more calls/direction requests, and better local rankings.

It's free. Takes 2 hours to set up. Returns thousands in leads.
