AI coding tools like Claude are incredible. They can help turn an idea into a working app faster than ever. The problem is, apparently logging into Claude now also comes with a complimentary “Senior Software Architect” badge. 😂

I’m all for AI-assisted development — I use it myself — but there’s still a massive difference between generating code and actually knowing how to architect, scale, secure, maintain, and support software once real users show up.

So I had a little fun with it.

“Congratulations, You Installed Claude. You Are Now a Software Developer.”

If you’ve ever built software, managed developers, or watched someone confidently ship Version 1 and immediately discover Version 2 is where the suffering begins… this one’s for you. 😆

Claude can help anyone build software faster, but AI-generated code isn’t the same as software engineering. A humorous look at the benefits, risks and reality of AI development.

🤖 **AI is an incredible tool.**

ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, and the growing army of digital assistants can help us research faster, brainstorm ideas, write code, create content, analyze data, and solve problems more efficiently.

But there is an important distinction:

⚠️ **AI should help you do the job. It should not convince you that the job no longer requires expertise.**

A business owner can use AI to help build a website.

But AI does not automatically understand your customers, your market, your brand, your sales process, your technical requirements, or what happens when real users begin clicking buttons.

💻 It can generate code.

It cannot guarantee that the code is secure, scalable, accessible, maintainable, optimized for search, properly tracked, or ready for customers.

That still requires human experience, judgment, testing, strategy, and accountability. 🧠

The same applies to marketing, design, copywriting, SEO, development, and nearly every other professional service.

🧮 A calculator did not replace accountants.

🔨 Power tools did not replace contractors.

🎨 Canva did not eliminate graphic designers.

And AI will not eliminate skilled professionals who know how to use it well.

🏆 The businesses that win will not be the ones that refuse to use AI.

They also will not be the ones that blindly hand everything over to it.

They will be the ones that combine AI’s speed with human strategy, creativity, experience, and common sense.

🛠️ **Use AI as a power tool—not as the entire construction crew.**

Because everything may work great…
until customers show up. 😂

“We did it ourselves with Claude.”

That sentence is becoming the new version of:

“We built the website ourselves. We just need you to fix the SEO, speed, mobile layout, checkout, tracking, forms, security, and the part where customers can actually use it.”

No disrespect to Claude.

And sincere apologies to every human named Claude who is now catching strays. 😂

Your website doesn't need another slider.

It needs a job.

I can't tell you how many business websites I've reviewed that look like they were designed by a committee armed with stock photos and unlimited coffee.

"Let's add another hero image!"
"How about a testimonial carousel?"
"Can we make the logo bigger?"

Meanwhile...

❌ No clear call to action.
❌ No local SEO strategy.
❌ No reason for Google—or AI—to recommend it.
❌ No way to tell whether it's actually generating business.

Here's my controversial opinion:

A $2,000 website that brings in customers is worth far more than a $20,000 website that wins design awards. 🧨🧨🧨

Your website isn't an art gallery.

👉🏼 It's an employee.

It should be answering questions.
Building trust.
Generating leads.
Working nights, weekends, and holidays without asking for overtime.

That's how we've always approached web development and digital marketing.
Every decision starts with one question:
"Will this help the client grow?"

If the answer is no...
We don't build it. 👎🏼

(And yes... sometimes that means talking a client out of features instead of selling them more. Funny how that works.)
