Passwords!! Can't live with them, can't live without them.
One of the biggest problems a lot of my clients have is passwords. No matter where you go on the internet it generally requires some sort of login credentials. For most of us, our memories aren't that good and then there is the complexity requirements...Capital letters, lower case letters, numbers, odd characters, etc. Writing them all down in a ledger is not the answer because if someone ever got their eyes on it all your accounts are compromised. Using the same password for all accounts simply means if someone gets it, they get access to everything.
Here is what I recommend...
Pick something that is unique to you - a favorite movie or song - something that has meaning to you and you are not likely to forget. Then combine it with a reference to the site or account you are logging in to:
For instance, if it is FaceBook and your favorite movie is The Godfather then you might use something like FBG0df@ther (Note that the "o" in Godfather is a zero). Then for logging in to say, your bank account at Bank of America it would be BofAG0df@ther and AT&T could be ATTG0df@ther...you get the idea, your password is complex using upper and lower case letters, numbers and odd characters but it is consistent and therefore easily pegged in memory.
Some sites don't allow odd characters so it is a good idea to have a backup that eliminates it, i.e. G0dfather. But whenever you can it is best to include an odd character as that exponentially increases your security against a "brute force" hack.
Try it...you'll be glad you did! Have a GREAT DAY!
