Disappointed my Illinois flag design didn’t make the top ten. More disappointing is most of the designs that did make it.

Here is my write up for my design:

Hoist side, a 16-point gold sunburst honors Lincoln, each point represents Illinois’ history & innovations. The central 5-point star symbolizes union with the USA & Illinois’ core values. Combined equals 21 points for the 21st state. White recalls the current flag, symbolizes peace & prosperity. On the fly end a stylized green shape of our state, reflecting Illinois’ Prairie State identity, agriculture, & natural beauty. The blue line represents loyalty, justice, & important waterways.
