Have you ever put on a memorable event? Thirty years ago in Austin, TX, a group of filmmakers and film enthusiasts commemorated the 50th anniversary of the dropping of the bomb in Hiroshima. We screened two films that evening: Warhol’s E.P.I. and Crossroads by Bruce Conner. Have you ever seen either one or both?!

Thirty years we did a Texas premiere and electro-ambient music was provided by Windsor for the Derby (Trance Syndicate).

What's your favorite 4th of July memory?

I will never forget the 4th of July that my uncle brought fireworks to our holiday picnic for the first time.

Being first-timers there were a few mishaps. One Roman candle went rogue as Poppy sipped a lemonade and sent his toupee flying into the swimming pool!

I am still looking for those photos, but this one will have to suffice for now.

Many of us who grew up in the late 20th century remember a time when photos were everywhere. Have you ever seen a photo and felt a gut-punch that an image captured the essence of a person, relationship, place, etc.?! Roland Barthes called it the punctum as opposed to the studium.

The studium is an objective description of a photo, but the punctum punctures through and causes a personal subjective visceral reaction. Do you have any photos like that?
