Watching breast cancer impact those I love has really made Breast Cancer Awareness Month hit a little closer to home. On many days our responder families may be a little dysfunctional (to put it mildly 🤣)… But these jobs are more than a profession, it’s a family. We stand beside each other on the hard days, fight for one another when the fight gets heavy, and show up when our people need us most.

So this month, everyone wears a little pink.

This month is to raise awareness, support and money towards a cure for our responder family members fighting - but also for their significant others, mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and loved ones. This month is for the survivors, for those we’ve lost, and for everyone holding strong standing beside someone in the fight.

Because when one of ours is fighting, they never fight alone. 💙🩷💛🩷❤️🩷🩶🩷💚🩷

This is a long one so stay with me. This video is not about being “butt hurt” over a Facebook comment. It’s about the culture that comment represents.

You can say you’re speaking as an individual, but when you publicly mock another first responder for talking about mental health, you’re contributing to a culture that tells people to stay silent.

We owe each other better than that.

Checking on your people isn’t cringe. Talking about mental health isn’t weakness. And supporting the person standing beside you doesn’t make you less of a cop, it makes you a better one.

Do better. Check on your people. 💙

I’ve been so worried about the future that sometimes I forget I’m already living pieces of a life I once only dreamed about.

And now, there are some big changes on the horizon.

I’m excited. I’m scared. I’m hopeful. I’m nervous. I’m pretty much all the things at once.

But I’m learning that being scared of change doesn’t mean it’s the wrong move. Sometimes the scarier thing is realizing you stayed somewhere you’d outgrown simply because you were afraid to take the next step.

I don’t know exactly what this next chapter will look like yet, but I know I’m ready to find out.

Here’s to appreciating how far I’ve come while still being brave enough to see how far I can go. 💜

Plain notebook? Not on my watch, whether it’s work or study, why not make it forensic. 🩸🫆🧬 note taking just got a lot more fun.

I’ve had this idea in my head forever and started with a few designs but I have over 20 designs so far!!

I had big plans for all of the things I was going to film, create and promote for this IAI conference. And then it happened. And I was sucked in to the environment for learning, presenting and networking. It was such an amazing week and trust me, although it’s not what I planned, there’s more content to come!
